Evert-Jan graduated in Dutch law in 1995. He also studied at Cambridge University, and in 2002 he completed the postgraduate specialist course in ‘Financing & Security’ of Grotius Academie.
As a lawyer, he specialises in corporate law, focusing on company law, national and international mergers, acquisitions, management buy-in/buyout, restructuring, joint ventures, participating interests and the other aspects of the transaction and financing practice.
Evert-Jan has wide experience at various firms. From 1995 to 2010 he worked at large international and multidisciplinary firms such as HVG Law LLP, and from 2010 to 2020 inclusive he was senior partner at Taylor Wessing in both Eindhoven and Amsterdam, where he was Practice Area Leader of the Corporate / M&A practice group.
He set up his own corporate boutique in 2021. In addition to listed companies, his client portfolio also includes many family businesses. Giving advice is second nature to him. As a dealmaker, he successfully completed many complicated mergers and acquisitions, because in addition to his experience and professional knowledge he also used his common sense and practical can-do mentality. That combination is his strength.
Evert-Jan is a long-standng member of the Dutch Accounting Law Association, the Dutch Commercial Law Association and the Dutch Corporate Litigation Association. In addition, he fulfils a number of supervisory roles in manufacturing companies, and he regularly gives lectures on his area of expertise to entrepreneurs.
In the register of practice areas of the Netherlands Bar Association he has registered corporate law, contract law and civil procedural law as his main practice areas. To maintain this registration, according to the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association lawyers must obtain ten training points in each registered main practice area every calendar year.
